Translational Surgery Research Core (TSRC)

Facilitate

The Core Labs provides laboratory space, animal models, equipment, and technical expertise to Department of Surgery investigators, collaborators, and trainees.  A major goal of the Core Labs is to facilitate maturation of departmental research programs with the intent of developing extramural funding.  Click here to see list of ongoing projects.  Click here to see a description of the facilities and equipment.

Translate

A key feature of the Core Labs research strategy is the development and automation of routine collection and storage of patient samples and patient outcomes information.  Molecular and cellular characterization of these samples allows for hypothesis generation and hypothesis testing in simplified systems (e.g. animal models) while maintaining clinical relevance.  This approach capitalizes on the research strengths of the clinician scientist.

Collaborate

A strategic approach of the Core Labs is to actively stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration through identification of synergistic expertise.  Click here to see a current interaction map.

Educate

The Core Labs provides opportunities for residents, medical students, and undergraduate students to participate in basic, translational, and clinical research.  Click here to see recent trainee research projects.  Click here to contact the Core Labs about trainee research opportunities.
