The Urologic Oncology Group, led by William Lowrance MD, MPH, Brock O’Neil MD, and Heidi Hanson PhD, focuses on health services research in genitourinary cancers. This group combines unique interdisciplinary training in surgical oncology and the social sciences, resulting in innovative research in the following areas:
- Determining risk factors for urologic cancer including both inherited and environmental
- Optimizing cancer outcomes such as quality of life, oncofertility and patient reported outcomes
- Understanding disparities in cancer care
- Leveraging health economics, policy analysis, and health information technology to optimize cancer care delivery
We support and mentor trainees at all stages including residents and undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. We also have a research fellowship that offers an intense one year experience in urologic health services research for medical students.
