Raminder Nirula, MD, MPH, FACS, has been appointed the inaugural chairholder of the Dr. D. Rees and Eleanor T. Jensen Presidential Endowed Chair in Surgery. Dr. Nirula is professor and Chief of the Division of General Surgery. This honor recognizes Dr. Nirula’s highly productive career as an academic Acute Care and Trauma Surgeon. It honors his extensive service to the University of Utah and the Department of Surgery. Most importantly, it honors his outstanding service and leadership of the Division of General Surgery.
The Dr. D. Rees and Eleanor T. Jensen Presidential Endowed Chair grew out of a gift from Eleanor Jenson upon her death in the 1990s, designed to honor her late husband Dr. D. Rees Jensen. The Department of Surgery is grateful to recognize Eleanor Jensen’s foresight and generosity, and we can think of no better chairholder to receive this prestigious appointment. Congratulations to Dr. Nirula and the Division of General Surgery.
