Celebrating the Perfusion Lab & Honoring Don Kimble

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Sudha Jayaraman, MD, MSc, FACS, Professor of Surgery/Division of General Surgery, Director of the Center for Global Surgery, Director of Research, Center for Medical Innovation, has been selected to participate in WomenLift Health’s 2021 Leadership Journey. This is a year-long program that is designed to give talented women leaders the tools – confidence, networks, understanding of barriers – along with peer, mentorship and coaching support, to successfully use their voice, expertise and leadership skills for health impact.

Dr. Jayaraman was selected to be part of a very elite group of 30 women leaders working in global health, who come from a wide range of sectors and disciplines. This was a highly selective process. Dr. Jayaraman is one of the few physicians and only two surgeons that were selected for 2021 cohort. WomenLift Health is sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which is guided by the belief that every life has equal value. The foundation focuses on a few big goals and working with their partners on innovative solutions to help every person get the chance to live a healthy, productive life.

This is a very big honor and tremendous opportunity for Dr. Jayaraman, our Center for Global Surgery and our Department. When you guys see Sudha in the hallway, make sure and give her a well-deserved COVID elbow bump or air “high five.”
